An Author Experiment
2023 is more than half over. Now in my mid-60s, my own life is more than half over. No regrets, just surprise sometimes as I contemplate that. Like most of you, the past few years have been challenging, but again, like most of you, (hopefully), I’ve come through and am enjoying the best of the cards in hand.
In retirement, my goal was to contribute something more in the time I had left. I published 3 books, and was happily moving ahead. But then fate dealt me a caregiver role to a father needing that. Satisfied that I met, and am meeting that challenge (with lots of help, you know who you are 😉), it’s time to move on.
To move ahead, let’s step back. First things first, I have not written much these past 2 years. A few blogs, a few short stories published in my local writer’s group anthologies. Nothing worth a new book, yet.
But I do have 3 successful books that have not reached their potential audiences. Marketing books is the dreaded part of an author’s life, and although Amazon is a necessary vehicle for sales, it is not the only one. I prefer a personal connection to selling books and have always done well at book store consignment signings. But again, signings are not the only way.
Announcement:
I will now mail books directly to readers willing to pay for them.
How it works:
- I will only mail a set of all 3 of the books. Duly signed, of course.
- Cost includes mailing via Canada Post. $60 CDN. (Sorry, only sales to Canada at this time.)
Direct message me either on my website or FB messenger. Payment will be e-transfer to an email account that I will communicate with you.
This is an experiment for me to see if I can handle this kind of book selling. But as we all discover, life is short, fate is fickle. Experimenting becomes the fun part😉 Wish me luck!
Prefer Amazon? Don’t live in Canada? No problem, see BOOKS
Hi Stevie
I wish you all the luck in the world with your new project. You are brave and inspire me. I have been wondering for sometime about selling direct but never got around to it.
I hope it is a great success.

I agree. I prefer the personal connection, too. Best wishes for success in your writing journey!
Hi Stevie,
Every author needs a time out to refresh. You take as long as you like. Your life with family is as important as your adventures on a page. Enjoy both of them and a new you will bloom in time.
Thanks, very kind and appreciated words from a fellow brat author🤗
