This old grain elevator from Killarney, Manitoba was torn down in 2017. It’s not sad; it was a majestic structure that served its purpose in its day. It makes a dramatic picture, taken with prairie storm clouds gathering behind. I was in Killarney that June day to respect another passing in 2017, that of my aunt, Elizabeth “Peggy” Giesbrecht, which was sad–she was a peron, not a building–but I would wager that she contributed her share of purpose to the world in her day also.
We hope and try to look to the future at the beginning of a new year. I do too. But I also look, and remember, the past, and pay respects.
All the best to you and yours in 2018!
